Thanks for including links to actions we can take here. I've been feeling so hopeless as a pro-Palestinian Jew. To see Jews talk and act like Nazis is intolerable.
You haven't mentioned the part of the Global South that is not subordinate to the US, or at least attempting to free themselves from subservience. This seems to be manufested in the growth of the BRICS community. I don't know much but this was where I was drawing my small amount of hope for the future from. What do you think?
I sometimes talk about China with Carl Zha on youtube and my podcast, we did one about Palestine and concluded that while China is pretty pro-Palestine, they can never match the commitment the US has to Israel. While it might be slightly unfair, my assessment is that Russia is somewhat pro-Israel and has maintained good relations despite Israel constantly bombing Russia's Syrian ally (remember millions of Israelis are also Russian, there are immense business connections etc). The other BRICS countries aren't really independent challengers of the US order. Long-term, I think the rise of multipolarity will make a just solution to the Israel/Palestine conflict much more likely. But not in time to stop this genocide, for which we have to pull out whatever stops we can.
China has actually been pretty active since you wrote this and Russia has been moving much closer to Palestine, both as a result of Israel's attitude towards Ukraine and because of its growing closeness to Iran. Reading this back a few weeks later (a few weeks in which decades happened) it looks like a slight underestimation of BRICS although you have very well captured the enormity of what is happening. Nobody is going to go back to their normal lives after this war is over, and it's not over yet by a long shot...
BRICS certainly represents a split in the imperialist camp and the end of the single superpower era that crystallised around the demise of USSR. They remain solidly capitalist and have strong imperialist tendencies. I’m no expert, here’s an interesting take on one of the players, India:
Among other things it discusses the nationalist ideology, the extraordinary gaps between rich and poor and corruption that suppressed progress. We should not rely on BRICS to solve the crisis of imperialism but good to consider how splits in the ruling class can be leveraged
Reading this from Belgium, where we have been calling for a ceasefire practically from day one with the Workers' Party in parliament, have been organising massive rallies, getting the socialist and green parties in the government to start rebelling to the point where the PM (very much against his personal will) was forced to join the Spanish PM to go and call for 'an end to civilian deaths' (actually he said' fewer deaths' because, you know, he's just like that, and that got loudly ridiculed for it), this still sounds like a far away dystopia, although Germany, the Netherlands and France are actually next door - but still worlds away...

No need to apologise for citing Lenin. His theory and practice stand head and shoulders above other working class leaders.

Thanks justin for constantly thinking a bit ahead and helping to map things out
