There are more Arabic news outlets in the world than English. That’s no coincidence. Someone should translate Professor Podur’s articles and send them out, especially to the Iraqis, they’re next. Not the Takfiri mercenaries, they don’t count and probably can’t even read anyways, like that ignorant thug flipping off a tomb. They’re not liberators, they’re Huns, in some cases literally if you take my meaning (Turkic speakers, if you don’t)

One of the points in the article is to not blame the victims. I blame everyone who knew better, but of course the US hegemonic elites first. Al Jazeera English comes to mind, their cowardice is what led me to EI, FPTV and Anti-Empire Project: their prejudiced coverage of the Axis of Resistance, especially Assad and Syria. Thanks for this article, really appreciated how concise and informed it was on why Russia, Iran and Hezbollah acted the way they did.

Thanks for calling out AJ english, they’ve been enraging me with their complicity this whole time. And once you realize how they assist empire, it’s so obvious. Thanks to Justin and Jon for pointing out WHY they were created: leaderless color revolutions in the arab region manufactured by and for the west.

Should Assad have met with Erdogan instead of snubbing him?

Could Assad have met with Erdogan instead of snubbing him? People think Assad is a dictator, but really he's an acceptable face for a clan power group that has to deal with other clan power groups. My guess as to why a decent, nice guy was left in place was he was no threat to their businesses, but Erdogan was. They delayed the pain for a long as possible because every day is another dollar. Also Erdogan probably didn't give two hoots about the snub, but he had a lot of problems that needed solving which these business interest stopped, so he did a Godfather style negotiation, problem is he now owns both the horse's head and the blood filled bedroom.

0n 08 Dec I wrote in one of your earlier post to YouTube as as a comment "Too early but if anyone won it's USA and Erdogan now has a bed partner who cheats more than himself."

I'll now add that genius wonder-boy Erdogan has replaced a hapless government which refused to speak or engage with Turkey so if it didn't help it also didn't hinder. It now is a hodge podge of governments and terrorist NGOs that will happily call Erdogan every day to beg, threaten, and cajole him for more money, more oil, more food, all while shooting at his own army. Those refuges he is tired of will flow back and forth with drugs and god know what. He's now got his military now directly interfacing with Israel physically face to face instead of through the offices of the executive branch, so another layer of corruption and disloyalty for his military is possible. I tell you, that Turk is a genius, pure genius.

This may work to Iran's advantage, if Russia closes down it's Syrian bases, then it will not have them prisoner to USA/Turkish threats as a way to delay or divide any support/response to the now far more likely attempt to take down Iran. It won't be a straight military attempt, even the USA does not have the force to invade Iran if it got every flunky in NATO, OAS, etc to join in, but economic war, proxy war, etc is right up USA and Israel's backyard games. Before I figured Russia would limit how it backed Iran to not provoke the USA as it's hold on those bases is not strong, and USA could easily shut down Egypt as a replacement for accessing Africa. Now Russia is going to have to write off much of it's work in Africa, and it's going to need leverage over Pakistan and India, which it would lose if Iran's oil became under USA control, so more reasons to commit. Lastly, now it will need Iran to buffer against Erdogan going fully into USA orbit. Iran can provide a lever point for that pressure.

As of today USA has been bombing Erdogan's troops. probably Biden is trying to poison the well between Erdogan and Trump admin, by making it too hard for those two egos to set aside the attacks and swallow the insults.

Could it be said that Russia didn't impede Israel from bombing Syria because Israel bombing Syria is almost the same as the USA bombing Syria and firing on Israeli jets is almost the same as firing on US jets? The special consideration Russia has for Israel is really just the special consideration it has for the USA, is it not?

Could be fair. I think it isnt unfair. They sensibly didn't want to start WW3. But the result was that it rendered their intervention pointless and undid their whole work.

Thank you for this sobering analysis. This is truly heartbreaking for the people of Syria, the region and the resistance.

Whatever sectarian, tribal dysfunction there is in West Asia, it will never be resolved when WEOG crew and the usual suspects are involved. There are plenty of villains to blame, but the biggest blame goes to the meddling, hypocritical, resource thieves of the West and Israel. I 💯 agree with this assessment. Depressing. The only silver lining is that the world population are starting to recognize that the US + NATO are the terrorists on the global stage.

John Helmer and Claudi Wright co-authored "The Jackal's Wedding, American Power, Arab Revolt" about 20 years ago. Have you read it and if so, found it useful?

After to listening to some competent Analysts I have come to the conclusion that Russia, Iran and Hizbollah just gave up on Assad and made the decision that the fight was not worth it. I’m sure all these parties have their ‘Plan B’ and the Palestinian resistance is still intact and carrying out operations. So this is no doubt a setback but not impossible to overcome.
